10 reasons why our customers choose us! Only the highest grade slow grown timber… The density of our slow grown 150 year old plus logs means that thermally and structurally our cabins, lodges and homes are second to none. The variance in the quality of timber used for building construction is astounding, and at Land and Sea Wooden Homes we are proud to state that we don't just use a high grade timber for our buildings, we use the highest grade available! The longevity and resilience of any log building depends not only on the way in which it is built, but also on the quality of the basic building blocks used (i.e. the logs). To ensure that quality, we combine U2 rated timber with diligent manufacturing methods to prepare logs in the perfect state for construction. We don’t cut corners in the interests of speed or economy, because our reputation depends on our product. And our product is as robust in 30 years time as it is the day it is built! An example of this thorough approach is our timber drying process. This essential element of preparation sees logs kiln dried, very slowly, over a period of 16 days, drying the wood to precisely 19% precipitation (the moisture content of the wood), and drastically reducing the occurrence of cracks and sheiks (splits) that are present in so many modern log buildings. Why store up problems for the future when a little extra care at the outset will guarantee the integrity of our products and provide you with proper buildings that will stand the test of time. *Average age of trees (also see ECO Programme below) The largest logs for 'proper' buildings… Many so called log cabins available on the UK market today are, to be honest, no more than sheds with a bit of design flair to replicate the log cabin style. Sounds harsh? Ask yourself this… If a building offers walls of 20mm or 30mm thickness, aren't those timbers really planks and not logs? And aren’t sheds made from planks? This, of course, is fine if you are looking for somewhere to store the lawnmower and the garden furniture, but a proper building that can be used all year round and will stand the test of time isn’t made of planks. For comparison, the floorboards in even the smallest Land and Sea Wooden Homes building are a minimum of 40mm thick! Basically, we believe that a log cabin deserves to be built with proper logs (either flat or round), and to this end our range of cabins and lodges start with a minimum log profile of 94mm, rising to anything between 134 – 240mm for our bigger buildings, according to specification and usage. Providing the service you expect when you invest in quality… We know that our reputation depends not only on our great product, but on the service that goes with it. We regularly monitor and review our service levels in an effort to provide you with a responsive and professional experience from start to finish. It is our belief that a Land and Sea Wooden Homes customer is a discerning customer, and as such expects and deserves the service driven approach that we provide. Helping customers to achieve their visions, by undertaking builds from a garden log cabin to challenging projects such as a golf course club house, all with the same level of service and enthusiasm, is fundamental to our business approach. The flexibility to design & build to your requirements… At Land and Sea Wooden Homes we own the manufacturing plant, and this means that we have the flexibility to offer bespoke solutions for your build requirements. You are not therefore, restricted to the handful of 'off the shelf' designs available elsewhere. Don't be deterred by the term 'bespoke' - it costs no more to produce a building to your exact dimensions that it does a standard design. We simply feed your requirements straight into the manufacturing process and you get what you want rather than having to settle for second best! The same principles apply from garden log cabins to a 5 bedroom log home. A real alternative to bricks and mortar… Durability, thermal efficiency, a proper structure with a proper roof – all advantages you might attribute to a proper building. Our log cabins and pine lodges genuinely provide a very real alternative to a bricks & mortar... They are proper buildings! Properly prepared highest quality timber, constructed using traditional proven methods, single us out as leaders in Pine Log buildings. Even our smallest log cabin buildings are unique in using (and being structurally able to use), a proper concrete tiled roof if desired, the advantages of which are numerous. No hidden extras… Many of our customers have researched the market before they come to us, and often they are perplexed by the amount of apparent 'options' available to them when choosing their building elsewhere. When taken in isolation their quoted price for the building alone can be misleading. The reality is of course, that 95% of the 'options' are simply components or services required to achieve a fully built log cabin. By the time you've allowed for foundations, a roof (of sorts), insulation for the walls (which is required with inferior quality timbers), double glazing, the build labour and sundries, and so on, the cost is escalating far and above the original price. At Land and Sea Wooden Homes, we will always provide you with a competitive quote which will include everything (taking into account to your specification). It will also include one additional extra that only we can provide – the best quality pine log building that your money can buy! No need to source additional trades – we can project manage your entire build… Not only will we manufacture and build the exact building for your specific requirements, we can where appropriate, provide all complimentary services to achieve a fully operational building. From site clearance to ground works, from electricity and plumbing to pathways and associated landscaping. Land and Sea Wooden Homes are your one stop service to an efficient and stress free build. There is no substitute… We have considerable experience in the construction of timber buildings, using round and flat log profiles. If you require a 3x3m garden cabin, a family sized log home or a 10 bedroom lodge, we can provide the buildings and service you will need. Our designs, manufacturing processes and build methods are well proven in some of the most diverse climates on earth, and the ability of our teams to respond to local, national or international build requirements is central to our success. Our commitment to a sustainable environment… We farm our timber from a massive sustainable source of 14.8 million hectares in the Karelia region bordering Finland & Russia. The region is known for its high quality timber (a result of the extremely cold temperatures), and consequently, forestry is the main industry there, employing a large percentage of the population. Our commitment to this environment is two fold. Firstly, due to the fact that we only use the highest grade timber available, we will only fell trees to order to prevent unnecessary stock piling of this valuable aged wood. Secondly, we partake in a replanting programme which sees two trees planted for every one that we use. Our ECO Programme means that whilst you will benefit from buildings made from the best available materials, all steps are taken to prevent wastage and also to promote replenishment. For your peace of mind… Finally, to prove the confidence we have in our product, and to reward your investment, we provide a 10 year guarantee for all Land and Sea Wooden Homes products. |
